Ferrari vs. Ford – AGAIN

Back in the sixties Ford spent millions to challenge Ferrari on the race track after a perceived snub of Henry Ford II by Enzo Ferrari.  The result was a complete podium win at LeMans by Ford in 1966.

Now it is another battle between the two car companies over F150.

F150 and F-150

Ford has sued Ferrari over its use of the F150 designation for this year’s F1 car.

Ford’s complaint is “Ferrari has misappropriated the F-150 trademark in naming its new racing vehicle the ‘F150’ in order to capitalize on and profit from the substantial goodwill that Ford has developed in the F-150 trademark.”

Certainly if you examine the two vehicles in question it is clear that Ferrari’s use of the F150 designation will cause an enormous amount of confusion that could tip the market balance in Ferrari’s favor.  I know that when my current pickup truck needs replacement that I will be confused and I certainly don’t want to end up with a Ferrari in my driveway.

Hmmm – and that prancing horse looks suspiciously like a galloping Mustang.

I’d love to pay F-150 prices and end up with my Ferrari. Shame about the bed space in the Ferrari – things will fall off that flat bed plinth that they supply up in the air on the back – I’m shocked that Farrari thought it would work as well as a pick up.

I NEVER would have guessed that Ferrari would get into the pickup truck business. But then, you just never know. Or maybe Ferrari is considering an entry in the roundy-round truck racing circuit.

Ford’s lawyers have to be billing all the way to the bank with this.

Thank goodness you labeled those logos. Put either of those on the side of a vehicle and I go back to saying “I don’t know. It’s the red one.”

  4. Rodney says:

You mean Ferrari makes trucks now. lol
