One Response to Thinking Out of the Box – New Car Door Design

  1. Noel says:

Seems like I’ve seen this somewhere before, 2-3 years back. Don’t recall. Some thoughts…

How does someone open the door from outside in an emergency, such as when the driver is unconscious from an accident? Or has had a seizure/heart attack?

How does it hold up in a crash? A conventional door can often be forced open if the body structure or door is bent, but how would this work?

How much structural rigidity is lost by eliminating the B-pillar?

How do you get into the car to pop the hood if you have a dead battery?

How much weight does this add to the car?

Is this the answer to a question nobody asked?

Besides, gullwing doors are much cooler.
